Representative Cases:

Our Experts worked on a case involving a team of botanists with the University of California. They produced patented, genetically engineered plants for commercial agriculture. Due to the actions of the UC, the botanists lost access to their genetic materials, which meant there were several years they were unable to produce cultivars. Our Experts calculated several hundred million dollars of lost sales due to loss of these patented cultivars, which The Court adopted.

Our Experts were involved in a case involving one of the largest publishers of educational materials and study guides in US. Their copyrighted materials were stolen by a competitor who out-bid them for several contracts with state agencies. Our Experts calculated lost profits on these contracts. This matter did not go to trial; our conclusions were used to receive several million dollars in settlement.

Our Experts were involved in patent dispute between an engineering company and an Australian importer. The engineering company manufactured patented, one-sided “blind bolts” used by telecommunication companies. The importer was selling the same bolts manufactured by an international competitor who was not bound by US patent law. Our Experts calculated lost profits and disgorgement. Our conclusions were accepted by the Court, resulting in several million in damages.

Our Experts worked with a well-known character comedian. Their spouse was alleging the concept behind the comedian’s characters was a marital asset. Our Experts ultimately concluded that the value of the character was the value of individual jokes told in character. Given the rate at which this comedian cycled through content, the value the spouse wished to claim was negligible. Our conclusions led to the parties to settle for significantly less than the opposing expert was claiming.
